Organiser FAQ
Step 1: Learn More About Professional Organising

Q.

How often should I declutter and organise my home?

A.

Organising is a process that doesn’t end. One of the best way to tackle ‘decluttering’ is to be mindful of what items are coming into your home. Prevention is always better than a cure. We recommend at least an annual decluttering phase, but some people do a seasonal declutter or even a monthly check-in.

Q.

What is a Professional Organiser?

A.

A Professional Organiser is someone who helps you to declutter, organise, and sort out your home. They can help with selling items, organising rubbish collection, installing storage solutions, creating filing systems, and much more!

Q.

Why should I pay for a Professional Organiser?

A.

Most clients that we work with have tried to organise their home before. They have spent hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars buying storage products and labelled everything.. only for their home to be messy soon after.

Working with a professional organiser is a shortcut to finding the best tidying solution for your home. We have the tools, tips, and techniques to ensure we find an appropriate storage solution for you and your family.

FAQ Q.

What about items I don’t want?

A.

Almost all of our clients are extremely concerned about waste. This is why -wherever possible – we focus on finding solutions for decluttered items that keep them out of the landfill (our local Op Shops Know Us Well!!)

This means we can donate, sell, or rehome a large portion of items that come out of clients’ homes. It really depends on the client and their budget, not to mention the type of items that need to be moved on. Obviously, if the items are poorly maintained or damaged, we will look at a cost-effective waste solution.

Q.

Can you work with my children?

A.

Absolutely! In fact, working directly with children and teens is a wonderful process that has long-lasting results. It is important that young people learn the tips and tools to manage their belongings. We will work respectfully and in an age-appropriate manner one-on-one with your children to get the results everyone is hoping to achieve.

Q.

Do you work with NDIS participants?

A.

Absolutely! We work closely with a number of support coordinators to declutter, tidy, clean, and sort participants’ homes.

We know that having a neat and tidy home is so helpful for both mental and physical health.

Q.

Can you Organise my mother/father/friend/neighbours’ home?

A.

No.  We can and will only work with clients who book directly with us. We also need to confirm that all the adult occupants of your home are on-board with organising happening.

If your family member or friend is suspected of having a hoarding or attachment disorder, it is vital that they source therapy or similar advice from a medical professional before working with an organiser.

Q.

Is it better to donate or sell items?

A.

Whether or not you should spend time or effort selling items from your home comes down to you. If you are time poor, nervous with tech, or unsure of the value of items, it can be much easier to just donate or discard unwanted items.

In many cases, we will help you to make a decision by offering a realistic value based on market prices. We can then list an item on your behalf, give it away free for you, or take it away to be donated.

Q.

What if I feel overwhelmed while decluttering?

A.

Your professional organiser will pace the sessions in your home to ensure you do not become overwhelmed. We will pause for breaks, remind you to eat or drink, and encourage you to take a moment if you need it.

Organisers are not just there to physically change a space, they are also there to help you with the process. So, your emotional wellbeing is vital and top of mind during each session.
